Cory and Jennifer Partlow know that preventative care is an important part of your eye health. Meet Our Staff
Dr. Cory R. Partlow
Dr. Cory R. Partlow did his undergraduate work at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. He received his Doctorate of Optometry at Indiana University where he was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa national honor society and involved with the American Optometric Student Association. Dr. Cory received his clinical training at the Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals in Perry Point, MD and Huntington, WV, and at the VisionCare Specialists in Des Plaines, IL.
Dr. Cory provides professional eye care with a personal touch. He specializes in all areas of vision care for children through adults including treating and managing medical eye conditions, fitting all types of contact lenses, and participating in consultation and post-operative care for patients undergoing ocular surgery.
Dr. Cory is happy to call Black Mountain his home and enjoys having the outdoors right outside his doorstep. He enjoys fly fishing, mountain biking and hiking in his spare time. He is also a member of the local Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce, where he is able to contribute to the Black Mountain community on a regular basis.
Dr. Jennifer D. Partlow
Dr. Jennifer Partlow was raised in Mitchell County, NC. She received her undergraduate degree from Belmont Abby College, in Belmont, North Carolina and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also completed a residency at the Huntington VA Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Dr. Jennifer is also a volunteer with Optometric Service to Humanity where she has traveled to rural parts of the United States and to the Dominican Republic where they provided approximately 1,400 local residents with free eye care and glasses.
Dr. Jennifer specializes in all areas of vision care for children through adults. She was able to focus and specialize in Ocular Disease during her residency at the VA Hospital, and is confident diagnosing and treating conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Dr. Jennifer has been exploring and learning more about nutrition and alternative/holistic care so that she can incorporate these aspects into her patient’s care depending on each individual’s needs.
Growing up in the mountains, Dr. Jennifer has always had a passion for the outdoors. She loves hiking, mountain biking, yoga and running. Most of all she enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends, and – of course – her Golden Retriever, Jake. She is excited to be back home in North Carolina and to be a part of the wonderful Black Mountain Community.
Carolyn was born in McDowell County. She traveled a lot growing up while her father served in the Navy, but she returned to the area to make the mountains her home. She enjoys hiking, swimming, reading and watching good movies, but most of all she loves spending time with her family and friends. She’s involved with her church and her community; teaching Sunday school and working with the McDowell Mariners Swim Team in the past. Being a cancer survivor for nearly 5 years, Carolyn has made it her mission in life to help cancer patients in any way possible. She strives daily to live a healthy lifestyle and pass it forward to those around her.
Carolyn has worked extensively in the optical field for over 10 years. She enjoys working with patients and helping find what fits their needs the very best way possible. This business never stays still, so being on the cutting edge allows her to provide great customer service along with excellent products to fit each patients needs. Melody was born and raised in Asheville and now lives in Black Mountain with her husband, Golden Retriever, Stella and Ragdoll cat, Henry. They all love being a part of the Black Mountain community. Her background is in Hospitality Management and Real Estate. Melody is also a family photographer and loves traveling the back roads of WNC in search of inspiration for sessions. She also has an extensive collection of photos of little white country churches. In her free time she enjoys refurbishing old furniture and scouting estate sales and thrift stores for new finds. Melody is an advocate for Skin and Breast Cancer awareness and volunteers her time and talent raising money for research and to an organization that provides free mammograms and testing.
